Exploring Madrid´s Neighborhoods

La Iglesdia desde lejos

So I have overall traveled into Madrid around 4 or 5 different times. I basically get into the city whenever I would like due to my transportation pass, so I am determined to take advantage of it. I love to explore around this gigantic city because it has some great aspects that I have enjoyed.

Puerto de Sol is one of the main tourist attractions in the city, and I would equate it with Times Square in New York. It has many people and attractions for people to shop at stores, enjoy restaurantes and wash shows on the sidewalk. From there, I have walked to grand palace of Madrid where the king is supposed to live, but no longer does.

This palace is bigger than Buckingham in London, has a beautiful garden on its right, fountain in front of it, church to its left and gigantic park behind it. Of course all of these buildings are open to the public for use. The park will not open until Spring time, but I look forward to wandering through it. The church was awesome to walk through during the holiday season. It has a beautiful worshipping area along with beautiful statues inside of christian figures and stories. The fountains and gardens are also just as nice because they give you a chance to relax, sit down and enjoy the sites. I have wandered through here many times, and I recommend you all to do the same.

Retiro Parque is the equivalent of Central Park or the Boston Commons when it comes to the US. The park is gigantic and has many attractions for people like myself. People can watch drumline shows, go boating in the man made pond, enjoy the flowing stream, feed fish, have a picnic, play on the play ground, enjoy its gardens or get free hugs. I did all of them except go boating in the man made pond and have a picnic. The free hug and the play ground was personnally my favorite. My friends and I spent a day just walking through the park, and I hope to do this much much more.

Overall, if you can go to Madrid then check it out. The metro is simple to understand and can get you anywhere that you would like. I hope to check out the Prado museum soon, a Real Madrid game and more exploration of the city. I have only heard about the night life and have not experienced it yet. My pictures of the city are limited
