Three Kings Day
On the first friday in spain, there was the very popular holiday of Three Kings Day. This day is equivalent to what most Christians do on the day of Christmas. Families and friends will share their gifts with each other, and the majority of businesses are closed. This is done on the day of Kings because they spend Christmas worshipping for their religion. Overall Christmas is much more of an active religious holiday in Spain.
There are parades in all of the major cities of Spain including Alcala. From what I was told, the parade in Madrid is so massive that it is impossible to stay at one place because the crowd is always moving you. But in Madrid, the parade concludes in the famous Plaza Mayor where only the most famous Madrillenos are allowed to attend. The whole town of Alcala was present for the celebration and it was a great way to experience the spanish culture. The center of Alcala was crazy for this one.
